Meet Greg Dunn

Greg Dunn has served two four-year terms as a Fayette County Commissioner, from January 1999 to December 2006. He was chosen by his fellow Commissioners to be Chariman of the Board fro six consecutive years (2001 through 2006).

Greg has lived in Fayette County since 1992.

He is a retired Colonel, United States Army, with over 29 years of active duty service. he holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland in Government and Politics, a Master's Degree from Sam Houston State University in Criminal Justice; a Master's Degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University and a Master's Degree in National Security and Strategy from the U.S. Naval War College. He also served as a Senior Federal Executive Fellow at the Brookings Institute in Washington, D.C. In that capacity he worked on Foreign Policy and National Defense issues.

Greg is a member of American Legion Post 105 in Fayetteville and is a life-member of the Veteran of Foreign wars, Post 9949 in Peachtree City.

He was a member of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and is a graduate of its' Leadership Fayette Program.

Greg was in the first group of students / graduates appointed to the Senator Paul Coverdell Leadership Institute. He served six years on the Atlanta Regional Commission, its Executive Committee and its Transportation and Air Quality Committee (TAQC) which includes 19 counties. He chaired the TAQC for his last three years in office. He was one of the original members of the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Board and, along with seven other Georgians, was appointed by Governor Perdue to his Congestion Mitigation Task Force.

He is a lifelong Republican, and an active member and officer in the Fayette County Republican Party since 1994. He chaired the Bush / Cheney Campaign in Fayette County and was Campaign Co-Chair for Bush / Cheney in the 3rd Congressional District of Georgia.

Greg and his wife Janet live in unincorporated Fayette county and have three children and seven grandchildren living in the Atlanta area.
